man i love it in the bushes
I’m a man of outdoor action. I’m working in a rather normal office job which makes me rather unhappy. My real ambition lies in the vast wilderness, where I can always experience the absolute freedom and express myself truly.
I love hunting, fishing and hiking. I’ve fished nearly all my life. Hunting has been my number one passion for several years now and there is hardly anything better than combining those two with hiking long trails while staying in the bushes for days or even weeks. Waking up early before the sun rises and heading to find animals’ tracks or spot the best places for catching the biggest catch are the best motivation one can have for getting up in the morning.
I’m a rather young man, only 26 years old, but my love for the wilderness combined with my passion for finding the best possible quality products have given me some great insight about hunting and outdoors equipment. I want to share my experience to help you find the most suitable equipment to make sure your trips to the bush country succeed.
How great equipment have helped my hunts?
I never was an exceptional shooter. I did okay in army, I could hit my shots in range but when it came to estimating distances during actual hunts, I was a bit lost. I have one friend that had been exceptionally good with hitting the long range shots (he had even shot black grouses from over 400 yards distance) and I thought he just had some pure talent… until he told me his dirty secret.
He had been using rangefinder for years. It had made estimating the distances and calculating the right aiming point way much easier than just trying measure with the help of a map and eyes. When he told me it I first thought that’s cheating but after giving the thought a bit of time settle into my brains I went and bought a rangefinder myself. At the end it makes hunting safer, helps you to hit less bad hits and makes the experience just so much more enjoyable with less guessing. And also it has increased the amount of game I’ve got a LOT.
Fishing was my first love
As I said I’ve fished nearly all my life. Actually my hobby turned into a passion based job at one point as we founded a fishing company with two of my good friends. My favourite form of fishing is burbot ice fishing but I enjoy all kind of fishing, no matter if it happened with a rod or with nets. I think I have done nearly all possible ways of fishing from using a spear to fly fishing.
Hunt animals, not gear
Great equipment makes enjoying the wild just simply a lot better. I love finding the best choice of gear for every possible situation and I want to use my knowledge and experience to help you. I promise you that I’m going to find out the best possible gear and review them in the best possible way. This site is about helping like minded people to use less time in hunting the gear to use more time for the actual hunts.
I’m here to help you catch fish and hunt animals more efficiently and responsibly with the use of great gear and outdoors experience.
How I test the gear
As a gear and equipment nerd I truly enjoy about finding out the newest and best gear. I regurlarly visit stores to see what’s interesting. I love researching internet about what’s hot right now and how I can find the best bang for my bucks. I’m the chief editor of this site and all the content goes through my practiced eyes. I might use freelance writers now and then to help me to go through all possible choices of gear but I’m the final boss who decides what goes live and what doesn’t.
I give you my word: I’m not making fake reviews about bullshit products.
I have also many wilderness guide friends who help me to come up with the guides I’m sharing here on Bush Country Pro. One of my good friends is an attorney and he is helping with the legal information concerning hunting licenses.
Why should you have a look on the site?
I want to keep this part as simple as possible so here we go. What you will find from Bush Country Pro:
+Honest experience about which are the best options for equipment
+Great advices about hunting, fishing and outdoors
+Insights for hunting & fishing sustainably (at least I want (most of the) game animals to exist also in the future)
+Occasional Finnish humor – this is usually more well hidden than white rabbits in the snow.
